Monyca Medusa Meiyers: What got you into art?

Whit: Wow, a tough one right off the bat.

I've been drawing my whole life (though not well for most of it), so it's hard to really pin point exactly what got me into it.  I was a really big fan of Saturday morning cartoons when I was little, and I'm pretty sure that probably was what originally got me started.

M: What's your favorite subject to draw?

W: Could you clarify "subject"?

M: Hmmmm, what kind of pics would you say you enjoy drawing the most?

W: I can't really pin that down.  What makes a picture to me is the idea behind it.  The richer the back story, the more I'm inclined to like it.

M: I like that answer.
What's your favorite medium to work in?

W: At one time, it was a mixture of colored pencils, ink pens, and then some digital coloring on the computer.  I've gone from that, to being completely digital when I purchased a Cintiq, which has saved me a lot in sketchbooks and paper, as well no longer having to screw around with scan times and the such. Love me some digital.

M: Is there any artists yu would say influenced your style or that you admire?

W: Ben Caldwell (http://daredetectives.com/ ).  The guys "ACTION! Cartooning" book is one of the first books I go to.

M: When it comes to the less then "traditional" ahem, I.E. kinky work, what kinda things do you like to work on?

W: This sort of goes along with the "favorite subject" question.  The more story there is, the more I like to work on it.  I've also picked up many, many kinks over the years, so I have a really hard time not working a couple of them into a single picture, or sequence.

M: If you had to pick a favorite kink, as a personal like, what would you say it is?

W: As much as the Body Expansions (BE, BI, etc.) were my first loves, Mind control has definitely become a dark horse that seems to show up in almost all my personal work.

M: Is there any erotic artists you enjoy a lot?

W: Sebastian Rubbermage will always be a favorite.  T-Link of lakehylia is also another favorite, as well as a good friend.

M: Well I want to thank you for your time and as one of my favorite artists I know personally I want to tell you to keep up the good work.

W: Thank you, and no problem.

Whit did this drawing as a favor in 2/7/08, and to this day is still one of my favorite renderings of me.

Exhibit: Bondage Doll

Exhibit: Bondage Doll
Avatar: Janick Janus
By: Janick Janus
Beginning Date: 4-2-12

I am always happy to have new ideas or notions brought to me. When Saya first come to me with the idea of her bondage chained idea I was a little hesitant. At first I was afraid it may be to strayed from the original idea of the gallery. Though I got to thinking, isn't her exhibit the core of what I am aiming for? Objectification, check. Display, check. Still, check. So I came to love the bondage doll idea.

Saya is one of the old school doll's from previous doll sim incarnations. A long time friend Saya is a very down to earth girl who knows the in and outs of both SL societal interaction and look modification. Her dress and look are tweaked to the nines giving her a very finished appearance.

Product Review: Hair by GuRL 6

Hair

I will not lie, I live in the past. But if it works there is no reason not to use it. GuRL 6 hair was the first brand of hair I have ever worn outside of the Linden mesh. At one time... -shutter- I thought the Linden mesh was good looking. Wow was I not so bright. My dear friends taught me the error of my ways and took me to GuRl 6.

GuRL 6 hair is not only nice but fits many of "our" needs. When I say our needs I mean us in the statue rp community. It is nice and solid prim hair, meaning that the hair is more individually primmed out instead of having the effect generated by textures. This lends to being able to re-texture the hair to appropriate material textures easier. I spent the first near year of my SL in my Taken by GuRL 6 and I still have fond memories of having long hair.

In this day of mesh hair I know that some of the older products have the "meh" factor but who the heck cares when your not moving anywhere to have the prim's clip.

For all my statuephiles I recommend GuRL 6 for your static hair needs.

Story Review: The Hours After

The Hours After

Mony, is all you like old stories?
Can't a girl have fond memories of those days when there was more stories then she had time in a day to read? Once more The Hours After is one of those stories. Really simple and really sexy. And I mean sexy. There are stories that are of a sexual nature that go into full blown smut but I love this story. the sex sequences are very risque, just how I like them. Not to graphic but enough to get my imagination flowing. I am forced to give The Hours After 5 out of 5 for... ahem, good memories.

This captioned manip is the source of inspiration for the author and I was simply driven to show this to you all to hopefully compel you to read on. Mony.

From the Sculptress: Back to the matter at hand

Back to the matter at hand

Did you think I was coming back? Did you dream about my glorious return?

Yes I am that full of myself. Well maybe close. I enjoyed my week off and I need to really thank my glorious hostess for allowing me to spend my time there. It was an intense period where I was able to enjoy being a piece of a house hold without actually taking part in it. Her generosity allowed me to relax and get my center back. Thank you very much Miss Levi.

I am very happy to be back to my beloved gallery and all of my friends that make it special. It has become something I have a lot of passion about, both the original goal of presenting the genre in it's best light and the ideas that my friends and visitors have given me. Ideas are coming at me left and right and center and I hope to be implementing as many as I can in the near future.

So in short, lets get this started. Mony.

From the Sculptress: Break

What would you think the percentage of online burn out is?

It has to be rather high. Over the years I have developed a bad case of net gluttony, I devor everything insight, I rp everything I can, I download every pic I find, and read every piece of smut I can bring up. And after I devour all of this I feel stuffed and sluggish and I swear off the interet, and how I am going on an online diet. After counting caloric mega-bites I find myself starving and once again I am at that place again.

This time I am really trying to be pro-active about it, normally all this would be followed by mopey Monyca going afk for weeks on end. I have met way to many people through the gallery I enjoy the company of to do my hiding routine.

So in spirit of trying to keep up on the gallery and the lovely exhibits. I am taking a break.

I can hear the collected gasps out there as everyone counts the number of blogs out there that have their last post titled a similar title and have that be over a year ago. Hey! I have been burning the candle from both ends and the wax is begging to drip all over everything. It's been a break neck pace and I have had a lot of fun both meeting, greeting, and playing with the patrons at the gallery. Well I can promise... no I can't do that, well then I assure... hmmm, I guess I can not even really do that. What I can do is say I think I have way to many ideas roaming inside my head and I plans to let them free on SL and the wider internet. I just now that I have a lot of things left undone and want to get back the will to do them.

Always remember, "Welfare Beware"
Mony.
